Sub-contract Test Facility June 2017

Whatever the reason a cable or harness is being tested, be it for correct assembly, wiring, insulation or dielectric withstand, an additional array of skills are required to ensure the test objectives are satisfied. Designing a test as well as the test equipment is often challenging, particularly if there is a lack of original design data. In the case of complex components or sub systems the testing should be treated as a project in its own right.

Matching the test scope and methods to capabilities, as well as understanding time and budget constraints is the first step. Test documentation should be defined and prepared, clearly setting out the objectives and how it is intended to achieve them.

Most cable, harness or back-plane assemblies will require dedicated test fixturing in order to apply relevant stimulus and monitor/record response. The complexity of the fixture is ultimately related to the type of device under test, its size, (physical and number of connections) and its ultimate purpose.

Combined Test Solutions Ltd (CTS) has more than 30 years of experience in providing test equipment, “off the shelf” and custom solutions for cables, harnesses and backplanes at various stages of the development and manufacturing process, from conceptual design iterations to pre-delivery sign off test. Now we have created a new “test on demand” – pay as you go testing, via our newly created sub-contract test facility.

Our equipment stock is valued at over £500,000 and it is now available for our sub-contact test facility to test your assemblies. Deliver on a Monday and have testing completed in 24 or 48 hours, subject to volumes – without capital expenditure. Fast turnaround, high quality in-depth testing on a pay-per-part basis.

Our knowledge of the industry and expertise in liaising with other test service providers and the ability to utilise a number of facilities to best cover the full spectrum of testing, necessary for complex systems, makes CTS a first choice in sub-contract test for cables, harnesses and backplanes.
